Luz Mercedes Alamo Díaz, 89, of Sanford passed away Saturday, June 3rd in her residence with her family by her side. Luz was born in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico on June 20, 1927; the daughter of Gabriel Alamo and Justa Díaz. She married José Encarnación Correa on September 27, 1946, and they shared 70 years of marriage. Luz was a homemaker, raising her large family in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico and lived there most of her life. She then moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1986 and finally settled in Sanford, Florida in 2001. She enjoyed cooking and gardening; and most importantly spending time with her family. She was a member of A New Beginning Pentecostal Church of Longwood, Florida.



From the time the Lord called her husband to fulltime Ministry, Luz was an extraordinary collaborator in the life of the Church. Next to her husband, she worked tirelessly for God’s purpose. Together, they founded 8 churches. Her pilgrimage during all these years was one of sowing values, expressing love, affection and tenderness with a great maternal touch.



Luz is survived by, her husband Jose, 8 sons, Juan Antonio, José Enrique, Neftalí, Efraín, Elías, Luis Alberto, and Nelson, 4 daughters Iris, Maritza, Ruth and Marta, 34 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, 3 brothers, William, Carlos, and Hector, 4 sisters, Margo, Sara, Marina, and Mariana, and extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Felicita and her son Carlos.



Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, June 6, beginning at 6:30 pm at Baldwin Fairchild Oaklawn Chapel in Sanford. Interment will take place in Oaklawn Cemetery on June 7, at 11:00 am.
