Lyle Dean Poling Sr., 76, of Charleston, WV, passed away Thursday, April 14, 2016, after a short illness.



Born July 1, 1939, in Calhoun County, WV, he was the son of Elbert and Bertha Moneypenny Poling. He worked as a telephone company employee with C&P, Bell-Atlantic and Verizon for more than 30 years before retiring in 1996.



Lyle served in the Army. He was of the Christian faith. He enjoyed spending time with his family and was a devoted husband.



Lyle is survived by his wife of 53 years, Linda Terry Poling of Charleston, WV; a son and daughter-in-law, Dean and Jetty Poling of Valdosta, Ga.; a daughter and son-in-law, Terri Lynn Poling Cunningham and David Cunningham of Cross Lanes, WV; three grandsons, Brian and fiancee’ Katy Lovett, Daniel and Matthew Poling of Valdosta, Ga.; two sisters, Ufa Palmucci of Wenonah, N.J., and Shonnette Koontz of Charleston, WV; several nieces and nephews.



He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother Elbert Lawson "Sonny" Poling Jr.



A funeral service to honor the life of Lyle Poling will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 18, 2016 at Bartlett Burdette Cox Funeral Home with Pastor Terry Stone officiating. Entombment will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.



Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Bartlett Burdette Cox Funeral Home.



In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in Lyle’s name to the Hubbard Hospice House, 1001 Kennawa Drive, Charleston, W.Va. 25311.



The family extends special thanks to the nursing staff at CAMC, Dr. Steven Jubelirer, Pulmonary Associates and the staff of the Hubbard Hospice House.
