A true, strong, honest lady has left our midst for the everlasting green pastures. Merlyn (Lyn) Joan Gilmour passed on November 14th in Sandy, UT. She was born May 9, 1931 in Duluth, MN to Evelyn Larsen Andersen and Charles Otis Zaiser. After finishing high school in San Leandro, CA, Lyn found work with the State of CA in Sacramento where she met and married Airman Norman Myers. They were with blessed with three beautiful children later relocating to Southern California. Lyn obtained employment with Lockheed Aircraft in Burbank, CA eventually building her career in Purchasing, taking specialized school at UCLA achieving a Certification as a Professional Designation in Purchasing and Materiel Management. She was active in the Lockheed Toastmasters Club rising to be president in 1982. In 1983 she transferred to the the famed Lockheed Skunk Works, in Purchasing, this time in the very classified world. She worked on several projects during one of which she met Warren Gilmour, the Program Manager. Both then divorced, the two were married in November 1985. Soon after retiring from Lockheed she and Warren moved to Sandy, UT in 1992 to be near Lyn's daughter Lori and her growing family. In Sandy the Gilmour's were active in skiing, hiking, golf, all as members of the Salt Lake City Newcomer's Club, "Retired Members Social Group". Lyn was editor of their newsletter for two years. Later, she joined the Salt Lake City chapter of Assistance League and participated in several of their activities. She performed on stage with the anti-bullying group at many schools and was a singer in their "Act III" entertainment group which entertained seniors at many retirement centers and assisted living facilities in the area. In 2010 Lyn developed symptoms of Alzheimers disease, and entered full-time residence in the wonderful care of Sunrise of Sandy Assisted Living home. She is survived by her husband of thirty-two years, Warren Gilmour, her sister Marlys Stewart (Bill), her three children Keith Myers (Kris), David Myers (Morissa) & Lori Kennedy (Kevin) along with 3 step-daughters, ten grandchildren & 2 great-grandchildren all of whom loved her very much. She lived a full and rewarding life and will be sorely missed by her family and many friends here and across the country. Donations in her memory can be made to the Assistance League of Salt Lake City or your favorite charity.
