Madeline Hope Hamrick Yost, 88, of Charleston, West Virginia passed away peacefully on January 15, 2016, after an extended illness.



A life-long West Virginia resident, Hope, the youngest of nine children, was born to the late John and Kate Hamrick. In addition to her parents, Hope was preceded in death by her husband, Ted Yost and her siblings, Fred Hamrick, Rose Neal, Evelyn Hamrick, Robert Hamrick, Mattie Bowman, Ernest Kenton “E. K.” Hamrick, Keith Hamrick, and Marie Dickerson.



Inspired as a child by the school nurses who made their rounds to her rural Greenbrier County elementary school, Hope went on to receive her own nursing degree from McMillan Hospital and Morris Harvey College. Known for her excellent patient care, Hope worked for Drs. Beatrice and Harold Kuhn, Staats Hospital, and St. Francis Hospital.



She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Mark Bowles of South Charleston; her beloved grandsons, Nathan and Daniel Bowles; and several nieces and nephews.



The family is especially appreciative of the excellent care Hope received from Marmet Center and Hospice. Hope was a member of the First United Methodist Church of South Charleston.



Service will be held Thursday, January 21 at 7:00 P.M. at Bartlett-Burdette- Cox Funeral Home at 513 Tennessee Avenue, Charleston, WV. Friends may call an hour prior to the service. Burial will be Friday, January 22 at West Virginia National Cemetery in Grafton.
