Mae Lois Bourda Gonzalez, age 103, of Kenner, Louisiana, passed away on January 3, 2018 at Brookdale Senior Living in Kenner.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans, LA 70124. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend. Visitation will begin at 11 AM with a Funeral Mass will beginning at 12 noon. Interment will take place at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum following the Mass.

Mae was born October 22, 1914 in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was the only child of Mary and Anthony Bourda. She was an active member of St. Frances Cabrini Parish on Paris Avenue and enjoyed flower arranging and volunteering for the ladies altar society. Playing cards games, especially bridge, and traveling were of great pleasure to her, and she enjoyed other people's company. Mae was a loyal fan of the New Orleans Saints. Eventually, she moved to Metairie where she was a member of St. Clement of Rome Parish for 35 years. Mae said the rosary and attended Mass daily. After hurricane Katrina destroyed her home in Metairie, she moved to Nouveau Marc in Kenner and then to Brookdale Senior Living in Kenner.

Mae was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Joseph V. Gonzalez and her grandson, Kevin D. Gonzalez of Athens, Georgia.

Survivors include her sons: Raymond B. Gonzalez (Dana) of Columbus, Georgia and Richard J. Gonzalez (Diane) of Kenner, Louisiana. Mae had grandchildren: Nathalie D. Nestor of Aliso Viejo, California, Julie D. Gonzalez of Marina del Rey, California, and Stephen Bourda Gonzalez of Marietta, Georgia. She had a great granddaughter, Alaina Nestor of Aliso Viejo, California, and three great grandsons: Miles Bourda Gonzalez and William Miller Gonzalez of Marietta, Georgia; Kyler Nestor of Aliso Viejo, California.
