Magdalen A. "Maggie" Gehle, 92, of Ft. Madison passed away on Friday, October 14, 2016 at 6:05 AM at the Ft. Madison Community Hospital.
She was born on July 14, 1924 in Houghton, IA to Robert and Rose Benjamin Cooper. On February 20, 1943 she married Richard J. Gehle in Kahoka, MO and he passed away on February 24, 1983. Maggie was an Arc-welder at Gleason's and retired after twenty five years of service. She was a member of Holy Family Parish where she was a member of the church choir. She was also a member of the Moose and Eagles Auxiliaries. Maggie loved NASCAR, especially Kyle Busch and his M & M car. She was an avid reader and loved to write everything down.
Survivors include three sons, Michael (Sharon) Gehle of Ft Madison, Roy (Anne) Gehle of LaHarpe, IL and Mark (Michelle) Gehle of Humble, TX; three daughters, Becky (Richard) Eaves of Ft. Madison, Rose (Dave Nelson) Siegfried of Ft. Madison and Mary (Bill) Shively of Hemet, CA; twenty three grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; two sisters, Audreen Tripp and Colleen Vliet both of Cadillac, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; two sons, Richard and Peter; four brothers, five sisters and two grandchildren in infancy.
Friends may call after 2 PM on Monday, October 17, 2016 at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory where the family will meet with friends from 4:30-6:30 PM, there will be a wake service at 6:30 PM, and following the visitation her body will be cremated. The Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at Ss. Mary & Joseph Church with Rev. Joseph Phung officiating. Burial will follow in St. Peter & Paul Cemetery in Nauvoo.
