Manuel E. Mendez, after 95 years of life, joined his wife Consuelo in Heaven on November 14, 2017. Born to Delfina and Pablo on May 15, 1922, he is one of thirteen siblings, three predeceased. Although born in Kansas, as a young man, Manuel held many governmental positions in post revolution Mexico. There he met his wife, who also moved to Mexico as a young girl although born in New Mexico. The unique union brought to life the legacy of three beautiful daughters: Luz Elena Nieto (Jesus), + Martha Urteaga (Roberto) and Lupe Perez (Luis). First and foremost, he always provided for his family and returned to the US to offer a better life for his family. As an accomplished wordsmith, he excelled at riddles and jokes, especially ones that played on words. He was graceful and an ingenious inventor. His witty demeanor complimented his charming and charismatic nature. He was terrific at billiards, enjoyed baseball and was a suave dancer. He enjoyed history, reading, was well organized and very good with numbers. Above all, he was extremely punctual. This leads his family to believe, he was right on time entering Heaven. He is loved by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Eddie, Melinda (Johnny), Jorge (Lorraine), Rene (Elizabeth) and Annalisa. Krista, Paulina, Alexa, Arian, Tatianna, Joshua, and Gianna. Services/ Celebration of life at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church: Tuesday November 21, 7pm Rosary; Wednesday November 22, 11:30am Mass, interment to follow at Evergreen East Cemetery.
