Marcus Lee “Marty” Stoll was born to Agnes Preston Stoll and Peter William Stoll in Beaver, PA. He grew up in Midland, Pennsylvania with his oldest brother John and his identical twin brother Mike. Following high school graduation, he joined the Army where he served in the 101st Airborne Division. He returned from the military to Arlington, Virginia where he met his wife of 53 years, Jeanne Ruth. Marty frequently referred to his marriage to Jeanne on August 31, 1963 as the best decision he ever made.

Marty attended Ben Franklin University and obtained a degree in Business Administration. His working years included a variety of financial and sales positions. He worked as a controller, sales manager, project budget manager, financial officer and professor; however, his most rewarding career was as a home designer and builder in the community he loved, Lake of the Woods. He was successful in every role he chose to pursue and ensured he always enjoyed the role he was in. He thoroughly enjoyed his time away from work as well and could often be found skiing, boating, golfing and spending time with friends and family.

Marty and Jeanne, along with daughters Lisa and Lori, began vacationing at Lake of the Woods in 1971. Initially camping, then building a vacation home and finally moving full time to the Lake in 1980. There he served on many committees including the Board of Directors. He was a charter member of the Lake of the Woods Lions Club and served as the District Governor of the Virginia Lions in 2006-2007 and remained active with the club until 2015. He was an active member and participant with the LOW Golf Association?, the ?Ski Club (where he taught many kids how to ski), the ?Stables and many other community activities, always seeking ways for the community to offer more activities for youth. He moved in 2015 to Nelson County, VA to be close to his daughters in his later years and passed away on June 10, 2017 after a rapid decline in kidney function.

He is survived by his wife Jeanne; three daughters, Linda LeRoy, Lisa Henson, and Lori Aylor along with devoted son-in-laws Kevin Aylor and Ed Brooking; his grandchildren, Lorin Whitt, Michael Henson, Raeanne Henson, Eric Olson, A.J. Kane, Zander Aylor and Mason Aylor; and great grandchildren; Eli, Luke and Benjamin Olson. Other family members include his loving in-laws George and Linda Aman, Joann and Alick Frank, and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held 11:00am Thursday, June 15, 2017 at Lake of the Woods Church, 1 Church Lane, Locust Grove, VA with Pastor Mike Lemay officiating.
