Marcus L. Jackson, 91, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, went peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior surrounded by his family on December 26, 2016. He was born August 25, 1925 in Garland County, Arkansas to Elroy and Myrtie Jackson.

Marcus was a member of Harvey’s Chapel Baptist Church for 68 years where he also taught the Men’s 3 Sunday School Class as well as serving as a deacon. He was a member of the Mountain Pine School Board for 12 years, a member of the Masonic Lodge, and retired from the Corps of Engineers Blakely Mountain Dam. Marcus proudly served as a member of the US Army Air Force during World War II.

He was a loving husband, father, Papa, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He will always be remembered for his ability to fix or build anything and everything. In addition, his bountiful garden was enjoyed by family and friends. He was a skilled and talented carpenter and was much in demand in his community. Marcus never met a stranger, and he enjoyed camping and being outdoors.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Marvin Jackson and J.D. Jackson; sisters Helen Ward, Bernice Dickson, and Shirley Jackson.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years Hattie Mae Jackson; his children and their spouses: Randy & Glenda Jackson, Sandra & Dennis Rawls, Karen & Steven Frost, and Mark & Genia Jackson; his grandchildren and their spouses: Kevin & Rachel Rawls, Amy & Chuck Ragsdale, Kara & Paul Karnes, Becky & Mark Mayall, Mandi, Corey, and Sean Jackson; his fourteen great-grandchildren: Lily, Harrison, Jefferson, and Theodore Rawls; Taylor, Peyton, and Jade Ragsdale; Rawls, William, and Emma Mae Karnes; Hannah, Gavin, Katelyn, and Charles Mayall; his sister-in-law Bonnie Jackson, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Friday, December 30, 2016 from 5pm to 7pm at Gross Funeral Home.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, December 31, 2016 at 10am at Harvey’s Chapel Baptist Church with Bro. Horace Gray and Chaplain Jim Freeman officiating.

Burial will be at Scott Cemetery with full military honors.

Pallbearers include Kevin Rawls, Wade McMahon, Rick Jackson, Chuck Ragsdale, Mike Dickson, and Roger Tolleson.

Honorary pallbearers are Arkansas Hospice, Dr. Martin Koehn, Nurse Brenda McDaniel, Social Worker Cheryl Murphy, and the Men’s 3 Sunday School Class.
