SORAUF, Margaret Anne, age 73 of Beavercreek, passed away on Saturday, June 3, 2017, following a courageous fight with cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Dorothy Murphy. She is survived by Thomas Sorauf, her husband of nearly 52 years, children Thomas Sorauf Jr., Edward (Susie) Sorauf and Kathleen (Michael) Kroeger. Surviving sisters are Mary Harshbarger and Lisa Courtney. Her grandchildren are Angelica, Nicholas, James, Jarred, Michael and Emily Sorauf and Freya and Beorn Kroeger. She was loved by those who knew her. She was born in Charleston, West Virginia on July 15, 1943, moved for several years to Charleston, South Carolina, and spent her teen years in Tampa, Florida. She graduated from Marquette University. In addition to raising a family in the Miami Valley, she taught English, special education and computer vocational skills for organizations such as Greene Inc. and Goodwill. Her volunteer efforts included, among others, Habitat for Humanity of Greene County and the Channel 16 Great TV Auction. She was passionate about quilting, sewing, and reading. She spent many enjoyable hours in her certified backyard wildlife habitat, flower gardening and watching wildlife. She was also devoted to her Chihuahua rescue dogs. A gathering at St Helen Catholic Church will be held for friends and family from 9:00 to 10:00 AM June 13th preceding a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM. If desired, memorial donations may be made to The Humane Society of Dayton, The National Wildlife Federation, or the American Cancer Society.
