Margaret came into the world on Feb. 23, 1924 in Swainsboro, Ga to Hudson (T) and Ola Peebles Wilson. She graced Heaven's door on Feb. 14, 2017 in Lake Jackson, Tx. She was raised on a Georgia farm as the oldest of 6 sisters. Margaret attended Georgia Southern University and promptly got a job assisting the US Government in St. Louis, Mo. There she met the love of her life, William John (Bill) Hughes. Margaret and Bill had a wonderful life traveling the world and living on four continents. They settled in Lake Jackson and were here for 53 years. Margaret co-owned The Carved Door antique store. She was a terrific cook, loved to dance and enjoyed taking trips with friends and family. In her later years, she volunteered as a pink lady helping and cheering "the old people."
Margaret was preceded by her parents, husband Bill, son Raymond and sister, Sybil Hall.
Left to treasure her memory are sons, John(Janette) and Richard ( Melody) Hughes and daughter, Linda Bruce, sisters, Helen Flanders, Frankie Donaldson, Bobbie Overstreet, and Loretta Santiago, grandchildren, Jake and Marcus Hughes, Jason Bruce, Amy Kraning, Brooke McGee and Brittany Maki. She delighted in 10 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren. She will be remembered by many loved ones and a host of friends.
The family wishes to thank the caregivers of ElmCroft assisted living and the staff of AMed Hospice.
