Margaret Finch Phillips, 70, loving wife of Clarence P. Phillips, Jr. of Greensboro, passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2017, at Wesley Long Hospital, following complications from Bronchiectasis, a chronic lung condition. She fought valiantly for years against this disease.
Margaret was born on July 26, 1947 in Bailey, NC, to the late James Willis and Virginia Boykin Finch. She graduated from UNC-G in 1969 with a degree in psychology and then embarked on a long career in Information Technology. Margaret was employed by Pilot Life in the beginning of her career but, left for several years to work for Southern Life Insurance. When Southern moved to Greenville, SC, she went back to work for Jefferson-Pilot (later, Lincoln Financial). Margaret retired from Lincoln Financial in 2007.
In her leisure time she enjoyed cooking, gardening, and travel. In the 25 years prior to Hurricane Katrina, Margaret and Clarence spent part of every Christmas season and Easter in New Orleans. They had some wonderful times there together. Post Katrina, they spent more vacation time in New England and Beaufort, NC. In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her brother, James W. Finch, Jr.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 45 years, Clarence P. Phillips, Jr. and many cousins from her family and her husband's family.
Clarence would like to thank Drs. Brent McQuaid, John Russo, Cynthia Snyder and their nurses and staff, along with the nurses and staff of Wesley Long Hospital and Advanced Home Care for the care and fine treatment they provided Margaret.
