Margaret Joann "JoJo" Knapton Johnson, 69, resident of Columbia, died Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2:30 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Jimmy Elliott, Jason Beck, and Tyler Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Memorial Park. The family will visit with friends Saturday after 4:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorials be made to The Boys & Girls Club, 210 West 8th Street, Columbia, TN 38401 or Highland Park Baptist Church, 1800 Highland Avenue, Columbia, TN 38401. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com.

Born February 28, 1948 in Maury County, she was the daughter of the late William Henry "Bill" Knapton and the late James Emma "Jimmie" Moran Knapton. She was a 1967 graduate of Columbia Central High School and retired secretary for the Maury County Board of Education. Affectionately known as "JoJo", she enjoyed working for the Culleoka Boys and Girls Club Greatness Academies. She was an active member of Highland Park Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school, worked with vacation bible school, and enjoyed ladies bible study.

Survivors include her children, James Lee (Gidget) Johnson of Mooresville; Phillip (Amy) Johnson of Santa Fe; Mary Beth (Kevin) McMillan of Columbia; and Paul Wayne (Jessica) Johnson of Franklin, Kentucky; sister, Mary Charles Knapton (Ricky) Harris of Spring Hill; and grandchildren, C. J. Johnson of Columbia; Matthew Johnson of Columbia; Skyler Johnson of Mooresville; Madilynn Johnson of Santa Fe; Elijah Johnson of Santa Fe; Juliann McMillan of Columbia; Cheyenne McMillan of Columbia; and Blake McMillan of Columbia; aunt, Margaret Kinnie; and special pet, Jazzy.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death in by her aunts, Ann Moran; and Mary Jo Whitefield.

Active pallbearers will be Ricky Harris, Chad Harris, Jim Kinnie, John Kinnie, Jeff Johnston, Bob Crichton, Brandon Marshall, Kevin Hamlin, Nathan Elliott, and Benji Robinson. Honorary pallbearers include Mary Ann and Willie Nelson, members of Highland Park Baptist Church, current and past employees of the Maury County Board of Education, and Boys and Girls Club Greatness Academies.

The family would like to express a special thanks to friends Pam Phillips, Darrell, Susan, and Mallory Shuff, Agnes Young, Linda and Charles Soper, Maury Regional Medical Center CCU doctors and nurses, Dr. Maura Lipp, Dr. Jon Freels, Katie Simmons, N.P., Carey Powers, N.P. and staff of Northside Medical Professionals, and her church family at Highland Park Baptist Church.
