Peggy (Brasuell) Connelly, 88, of Bel Air, MD, passed away May 13th, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Born in Ridgway, PA, she was the daughter of the late Charles E. and Appalonia (Lenze) Brasuell. She was the wife of the late Eugene Arthur 'Archie' Connelly, whom she married in 1953. She was predeceased by a son Kevin, a brother, Charles, and two sisters, Mary Ann and Ruth. Peggy is survived by three children, Patrick Connelly and wife, Janet; Michael Connelly and wife, Katherine; and Ruth Connelly Burdeshaw and husband, Mark. She has six grandchildren – Devin Connelly, Jonathan Connelly, Fern Connelly, Emily Burdeshaw, Alex Burdeshaw and Matthew Burdeshaw. Peggy earned her degree in Teaching in 1951 from California State Teachers College Pennsylvania and moved to California where she started her first teaching job, met her husband, Archie and started raising her children. She ran her own nursery school for more than 20 years in Pocomoke City, MD, educating many of the community's three and four-year old children. After moving to Harford County, she became very active in the community, volunteering at Harford Community College by tutoring adults and teaching them how to read, as well as taking Holy Communion to residents of local nursing homes and hospitals. She touched the lives of many community members in the short nine years she was in Harford County. The funeral Mass will be held Saturday, May 20th at 10am at St. Joan of Arc Church in Aberdeen, MD, with a luncheon in the church hall to follow. Family will gather an hour prior to the service to receive family and friends. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Pocomoke City, MD. Burial will take place in Santa Clara Cemetery in Oxnard, CA, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Seton Center, a multi-purpose neighborhood community center run by the Sisters of Charity and located in Princess Anne, MD, where she volunteered for many years.
