Maria Khanh Tro Thi Hoang, 85, of Winter Park, passed away on October 26, 2017. She was born in Da Lat, Vietnam, on February 18, 1932. Maria was educated in Vietnam, Japan, Hong Kong, and the United States. She received master’s degrees from the University of Hong Kong and Rollins College. Maria taught high school in Vietnam and K-6 in the bilingual program in Orlando, Florida. In Hong Kong, she worked for the Associated Press and taught French at the Alliance Francaise. Maria was devoted, loving, and generous to her family and close friends. She single-handedly took care of her mother and raised one of her nieces and two of her nephews from childhood. Maria was predeceased by her father Bien Manh Hoang (1947), her mother Tri Thi Duong (2001), her brother-in-law Phu Thuc Ta (2004), and her brother Ke Quy Hoang (2016). She is survived by her sister Hanh Thi Hoang; her sister-in-law Dinh Chi Hoang, her nieces Miranda Lan, Lan Huong, Kirsty Thu Nhi, Mai Dooley (Daniel), and Tatyana Thien Huong; her nephews Tung (Sara), Don (Gina), and Tony (Ayako); and her grand-nephews Andrew, Spencer, Kai, and Charles.
