Maria "Rosie" Garza Crossman, born Jan 17, 1957 in Corpus Christi, Texas, went to her heavenly home after a valiant battle with cancer. She passed peacefully at the age of 60, surrounded by her family in Houston, TX.

Raised in Freeport, Texas, Rosie was a free spirit and was continuously searching for exciting new challenges in her life. In the early 90's, she worked for Texas Instruments, and in 1996 worked for Pennzoil as a customer service representative.

During her corporate career she found her calling in serving others and attained a degree from the College of Biblical Studies. After joining the Comboni Missionaries in 1998 she traveled to Ghana, Africa to work as a missionary. She spent 3 years in Africa, serving the less fortunate and spreading the word of God. When she returned home she continued working for the church, and also worked for the Diocese for a few years. Rosie made numerous friends through the many paths she traveled.

Later, Rosie graduated from the Police Academy at Brazosport College and then served as volunteer Patrol Officer at Surfside Beach. She loved the beach, and went every opportunity she had. In 2011 Rosie moved to San Antonio, where she was employed by the Texas Department of Corrections until her death.

She is preceded in death by her parents Andres and Juanita Garza, and brothers Rudy Garza and Andrew Garza Jr.

She is survived by her son Alvie Busby - Houston, Tx and brothers Jesus Garza (Dolores) - Cypress, TX, Armando Garza (Debbie) - Freeport, Tx, Mario Garza - Austin Tx, Joe Garza - Lake Jackson, Tx Sisters Adela Hernandez - Richwood Tx and Anabella Garza - Freeport, Tx and numerous nieces and nephews.

Chris Garza, Jody Garza, Daniel Damian, Jeremiah Gilbert, Mario Garza, Jr., and Gabriel Delua will serve as pallbearers.

Special thanks to her friends at TDC for their support and numerous donations and Janie Delua for all her care, love, and support.

Visitation will be held at Restwood Funeral Home on May 2, 2017 from 7:00 pm-9:00 pm
Funeral Service will be held at St. Jerome's Catholic Church on May 3, 2017 at 10:30 am with graveside to follow at Restwood Memorial Park
