Marie Isabelle Wood passed away on April 19th after a brief illness. She was a Vermont native who moved to Norwich in 1963 with her husband Walter and her four children Chris, Craig, Donna and Mark. In 1970 the family grew by one when baby Alyson was born.

Marie spent her life loving three things, her family, her faith and her work. She attended St. Paul's Church and worked at NBT Bank for decades. Many knew her as the friendly lady behind the teller's window, or as manager of the South Plaza branch. She also was a member of the Norwich Garden Club, and volunteered at The Hospital Auxiliary's "Pink Door".

Marie was one of six children and now joins her mother Isabelle, father Patrick, baby brother Charlie older brother Stephen, and grandson Justin in a place of perpetual grace. Walt, her husband for 65 years will miss her for the rest of his life. As will her children Chris Wood, Craig & Birgit Wood, Donna Wood-Craig and Steve Craig, Mark and Margaret Wood, and Alyson and Chris Handy.

While not always physically close in life, she loved her grandchildren, wanted only good things for them and watched them grow into fine young people; they are Donald and John Wood, Eli and Matthew Craig, Emma, Abigail and Hope Wood, and Ainsley and Hayden Handy. She also found joy in great grandson Lux Wood, the last baby (this lady who loved babies so much) was able to hold. Three of Marie's siblings survive, Patrick Cooke, Anna Reynolds, and Alan and Hildegard Cooke, as well as her long time, and loving friend Barbara Fendsack.

A memorial service for Marie will be held at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home in Norwich on Monday, April 24th. Family members will be greeting friends from 11:00am until the service at noon. Burial will take place at a later date in Middlebury, Vermont.
