Marie Ellen Marcotte Waldmann passed away peacefully and entered paradise on the evening of May 22, 2017 at the age of 94. Marie was the daughter of the late Walter Anthony Marcotte and Christine Caroline Goke Marcotte. She was predeceased by daughters Mary Gerard Waldmann, Christine Caroline Waldmann, Kristine Marie Waldmann, loving husband Bernard William Waldmann, Jr., and her little companion Maltese dog, Bing-Bing. She is survived by children Bernard Walter Waldmann (Deborah) and Kathryn Waldmann Wilson (Kevin), grandchildren Jeanne Ducote Ivern (Javier), Michelle Ducote Pendergast (Bryan), Sarah Waldmann Chaplain (Ryan), Erica Wilson Bellio (Jody), Nicholas Marcotte Wilson, Amanda Helen Wilson, and great-grandchildren Thomas Ivern, Amelia Ivern, Evelyn Ivern, Jacques Pendergast, Liam Pendergast, and Braelyn Bellio. Marie was born in Culver City, California, and spent most of her adulthood in New Orleans. She received a Bachelor's Degree in social work from Louisiana State University, and a Master's Degree in social work from Tulane University. Retired, after many years as a supervisor with the Department of Public Welfare with the State of Louisiana, Marie, along with husband Bernard, spent much time serving with Volunteers of America by giving love and care to children waiting for foster care or adoption. For many years Marie was an active member of the Community of John the Evangelist. She enjoyed camping with her Holiday Rambler Motorcoach Association companions and traveling with her husband, friends, and family. She also enjoyed attending the Jazz and Heritage Festival, reading her favorite Reader's Digest magazines, doing needlepoint, and playing canasta. Marie was a strong, courageous, compassionate, loving individual who had the gift of lending amazing words of wisdom and advice to those who sought it. She will be greatly missed. Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Westside Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 5101 Westbank Expressway, Marrero, Louisiana beginning at 11:00 a.m.; that will be followed by Mass at 1:00 p.m.. A celebration and toast to Marie's life will immediately follow at her residence in Marrero, Louisiana.
