She was also actively involved in local community organizations that included the Dayton Children's Hospital Association and the Saint Joseph Children's Home of Dayton. She chaired and directed several successful fundraising events for both organizations, including the annual Cha-Cha Ball that provided significant contributions to the growth and expansion of Dayton Children's Hospital. Known for her unique combination of creativity, artistic vision and love of nature Marilyn was a master gardner. A member of the Four Seasons Garden Club of Dayton her gardens in Kettering were frequently opened for public tours due to the impressive display of horticultural artistry. The nurturing care and attention to detail were clearly evident in the natural beauty and peace that filled the green spaces touched by Marilyn's loving hands and her deep appreciation for the gifts of nature. Let love hold. Through the passing of seasons, through the distances of the goodbyes, through the shadowlands of separation. Let love hold. Against all fear, all pain, all sorrow. Let love hold like a fortress in our hearts and endure like the sun.
