Johnson - Williams Funeral Home
Marilyn Cobb Thorpe, 80 of Newbern, Tennessee died on Thursday, September 15, 2016, at her residence in Newbern, Tennessee.
Born Wednesday, June 17, 1936 in Brownsboro, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late Jewell Cobb and the late Lena Mae Neal Cobb. She was a former restaurant owner and beloved bus driver for the Dyer County School System for over twenty years. Mrs. Thorpe attended Lemalsamac Church of Christ.
Funeral services for Mrs. Thorpe will be held at 1:30 PM on Sunday, September 18, 2016 in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating this service will be Bro. Dana Watford. Interment will follow in Cobbs Chapel Cemetery in Obion County, Tennessee. Visitation will be Saturday from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.
She is survived by two sons, Johnny Ray Thompson and wife, Teresa of Dover, Tennsee and William "Bill" Thorpe of Newbern, Tennessee; two daughters, Kasanda "Sandy" Spicer and Sonya June Thorpe both of of White House, Tennessee; adopted daughter, Dede Spencer of Newbern, Tennessee; one brother, J. W. Cobb of Owens Crossroads, Alabama; three sisters, Jewel Fox and Cathy Owens both of Owens Crossroads, Alabama and Linda Patton of Atlanta, Georgia; five grand children and seven great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Thorpe; one daughter, Mary Ann Thompson and one sister, Rilla Mae Houk.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
