MARILYN FRANCES MILLER November 12, 1938 ~ October 3, 2016 "Marilyn was a loving and generous wife, mother, and grandmother. We will always cherish her memory." Marilyn Frances Miller was born November 12, 1938 to Orpha and Stanley Childs. She grew up in Portland, OR and graduated from Grant High School. She studied ballet with Jacqueline Schumacher in Portland for several years before meeting and marrying her husband Wayne. They were married for 56 years this past April. Together, they raised two sons and a daughter. Marilyn enjoyed being a member of Messiah Lutheran Church for over 40 years. She treasured her time teaching Sunday School as well as her time helping with Vacation Bible School. Marilyn had a lifelong appreciation for the arts and enjoyed reading as well as composing her own poems. The sunsets at Cannon Beach brought her great joy as well as the saltwater taffy! She loved being a mother and took great pleasure in being "Mom". Her sense of humor and wit is something all of her family and friends will miss most about her, even though it often got her into trouble. Marilyn was preceded in death by her two brothers, Dick and John Childs; and her granddaughter, Kaitlin. She is survived by her husband, Wayne; sons, Jeff (Nancy) and Mike (Tracy); daughter, Wendy; and three grandsons, Peter, Ethan and Wyatt. A Celebration of Life will be held Tues., Oct. 18, 2016 at 3 p.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church, 905 NW 94th St., Vancouver, WA 98665. Please sign her guest book at: www.columbian.com/obits.
