Our sweet mother, Marilyn Ruth Hagood Pinson, passed away on June 7, 2017. Known to her family as Mom, Meems, Mimi, Momster, and Pookie, she will be remembered for her witty comments, her fabulous cooking and entertaining, grandmotherly generosity, and as an imparter of wisdom (for which we did not always ask!). Born in Orange, Texas on March 13, 1931, to Ollie and Luther Hagood, Marilyn spent her childhood in Corpus Christi then moved to Austin with her parents, brother, Bob and sister, Dorothy, where she graduated from Austin High School in 1948. She went to work for the Texas Department of Public Safety where she met and married James (Jim) Boutwell in 1950. They had three children.

Marilyn was employed as a secretary at Southwestern University while attending secretarial school at night and raising the children after she and Jim divorced. After secretarial school, she worked at Tracor in Austin where she met and married Lt. Col. (Ret.) Claud Pinson. Not long after marriage, they moved to Round Rock and founded Pinson Associates, a company specializing in military countermeasures. As Executive Secretary, Marilyn ran the company while Claud designed the product and procured defense contracts. He and Marilyn also helped establish St. Richard's Episcopal Church and Holy Innocents Anglican Church in Round Rock and an Anglican church in Pflugerville. Claud passed away in 1996. In 2006, Marilyn retired from taking care of her big yard and moved to Austin, where she took great pleasure in volunteering at Seton Southwest Hospital and St. Christopher's Episcopal Church. When Barbara and Larry moved to Kerrville, she bought the house across the road and enjoyed her small part of the beautiful Texas Hill Country.

She is survived by her son Allan Boutwell and wife Debra of Utopia, her daughter Debbie Henderson of Georgetown, and daughter Barbara Jansen and husband Larry Baird of Kerrville. Also, two step daughters Kip Rusek of Helena, MT and Janet McGookey of San Antonio. She has two grandchildren, Holly Ratliff and Michael Boutwell, three step grandchildren, one great grandchild, and four step great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the nurses and aides at Hilltop Village Nursing & Rehabilitation and Peterson Hospice in Kerrville for the loving care they gave Marilyn. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Peterson Hospice, 1121 Broadway, Kerrville, Texas 78028, 830-258-7799.

A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 P.M., on Sunday, June 11, 2017, at Austin Memorial Park at 2800 Hancock Drive, Austin, Texas 78731.
