Marion Anita (Oliveira) Oliver, 93, widow of George P. Oliver, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 in Brookdale Assisted Living where she resided. Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Manuel R. and Matilda (Haggerty) Oliveira. She was a lifelong resident of New Bedford. Mrs. Oliver graduated from New Bedford High School and Kinyon Campbell Business School.

Marion worked as an insurance clerk for Lawler Insurance Agency later becoming their office manager. She was employed there for 36 years retiring in 1988. She was also the Executive Secretary to former New Bedford Mayor Brian J. Lawler. Previously she worked as a cloth inspector for Berkshire Hathaway Company in New Bedford. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Guadalupe at St. James Church where she was a Eucharist Minister serving the community and residents of Brandon Woods. She was a former member of St. Hedwig Church and Mt. Carmel Church where she initiated the Girl Scout Program with a Brownie Troop. She was the Girl Scout leader for over 10 years. Mrs. Oliver was also a member of St. Hedwig Senior's and the YWCA Widowed Persons Program.

She is survived by a son, George A. Oliver and his wife Barbara of Mendham, New Jersey, and a daughter, Gail G. Donahue and her wife Carol Xavier of New Bedford, and a sister, Caroline Farrell of St. Louis, Missouri. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Katherine Rivera and her husband Gilber), Kori Schimpf and her husband Brian, Jared Donahue and his wife Kristen, and Ryan Donahue. Also, by six great- grandchildren, Tatyana, Kallie, Sterlin, Xavier, Trevor and Sydney, and several nieces and nephews.

Her Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at 9:00AM in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME at DARTMOUTH, 230 Russells Mills Road, Dartmouth, MA 02748 followed by her Funeral Mass at 10:00AM in Our Lady of Gaudalupe at St. James Church, 233 County Street, New Bedford, MA 02740. Visitation Monday from 4:00 to 7:00PM. Burial in St. John's Cemetery, New Bedford. In lieu of flowers contributions in her honor may be to the Dennison Memorial Community Center, 755 So.
