Marion Chesnut Steinmeyer, a loving, gentle soul, died January 2, 2017, at the Retirement Ranch in Clovis, New Mexico. Marion was born on August 25, 1920, in Guthrie, Oklahoma, to Cleve and Pearl Chesnut. Her grandparents made the Oklahoma Run in 1891.

Marion graduated from Classen High School in Oklahoma City, attended Ward Belmont Girls School in Nashville, TN and then graduated from the University of Oklahoma where she met her husband, George. Marion became a devoted and loyal member of Delta Gamma Fraternity and remained active as an alumna. She received the highest award of the Cable Award by Delta Gamma having evidenced unusual loyalty and devotion far beyond normal alumnae participation.
Marion married George Steinmeyer on January 30, 1943, settled in Oklahoma City and were able to celebrate over 50 years of marriage. Before moving to Clovis, NM in 2009 to be with their daughter, Susan and her family, Marion was active in First Christian Church of Oklahoma City as a devoted member and deaconess.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Dorothy Chestnut Baker, her husband and a nephew, Tom Baker. She is survived by her daughter, Susan (Ed) Tatum, two grandsons, Scott (Sheryl) Tatum and Drew (Christina) Tatum, and four grandchildren, Brooke, Zach, Gracie, and Everett. She was also survived by a special niece, Dr. Barbara Baker, and a nephew, Dr. Bun Baker.

Services for Marion will be held at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Funeral Chapel in Oklahoma City on January 7, 2017 at 10:00 AM followed by a reception at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, Marion would like donations made in her memory to Free to Live, P.O. Box 5884, Edmond, OK 73083-5884 or to Delta Gamma Fraternity.
