Marjorie Scott Hamby, 94 of Higginsville, Missouri died on Thursday, November 9, 2017, at her home.

Born Tuesday, March 20, 1923, she was the daughter of the late John Scott and the late Mary Halcomb Scott. She married George "G.W" Hamby on June 5, 1949, he preceded her in death on February 4, 2010.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church and a member of the Higginsville P.E.O. Chapter. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Southwest Missouri State in Springfield, MO. She taught math and science at Green Ridge and Sweet Springs High School retiring in 1974.

Surviving are one son, Carl (Mary) Hamby of White Plains, NY; one daughter, Carolyn (Mike) Boland of Waverly, MO; six grandchildren, Jeffrey Hamby, Grace Hamby, Rose Hamby, Matt (Trisha) Boland, Steven (Jamie) Boland and Daniel (Andrea) Boland; six great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband George and two sisters, Marion Baucomand Virginia Stafford.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 24, 2017 at First Baptist Church with Dr. Greg Fine officiating and Rev. Jim West assisting. Jolene Vereeke, pianist. The family suggest memorials to First Baptist Church Building Fund or Community Health Foundation Scholarship.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Friday, November 24, 2017, at First Baptist Church.
