Mark Edwin Ogert, 51, of North Adams passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at his home
surrounded by his family and friends after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Mark was born in North Adams on December 16, 1966, son of Sandra J. (Maynard) Singer and
the late Sidney E. Ogert. Mark attended public schools in North Adams and graduated from
Charles H. McCann Technical High School where he earned an education in Metal Fabrication.
Mark was a certified welder working for Lenco Industries in Pittsfield where his employer and
co-workers have showed him so much love, caring, and support throughout his illness. Prior
to his employment with Lenco, he worked at Bennington Iron Works for 23 years. Mark also
served in the United States Navy and was medically discharge after finishing boot camp.
Mark was an avid outdoorsman and had a strong spiritual connection to the wilderness and
loved to hunt, camp, and fish. He was named in the Boone & Crockett Club for a deer he shot
with a muzzleloader with his daughter Chelsey Ogert. Mark was a beloved father, brother,
grandfather, uncle, great uncle, and dear friend to many.
Besides his mother Sandra of North Adams, he is survived by his fiance`, Jodi O'Dell with
whom he made his home;
One daughter, Chelsey Lee Ogert of North Adams;
Extended family, Jodi's son and daughter, Cody O'Dell and Kendra O'Dell of North
Adams, whom Mark raised and acknowledged as his own step son and step daughter;
One granddaughter, Sadie Jean Belanger of North Adams
Three step grandchildren through Jodi's family: Jeremy, Karson, and Raelynn of North
Three sisters, one brother, and one brother in-law, Robin Estrada of Michigan,
Wendy and Arthur Campbell, Jr. of Williamstown, Sheila Ogert of Adams, and Wayne
Russell of Greenwich, NY;
Two nieces, Michelle Marie Estrada and Margeaux Teresa Estrada of Idaho
Three nephews, Zachery Troy Estrada of Idaho, Austin Michael Matteson of Adams,
and the late Tyler Aaron Kuzia of North Adams;
Three great nieces, Bailey Haze Waterman, Lynlee Bo Breaux, and Alicia Rosa Estrada
of Idaho;
One great nephew, Louie Troy Estrada of Idaho;
Many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Predeceased by his grandparents Evelyn (Wright) and Walter Maynard of Clarksburg
and Nellie (Blake) and William Ogert of Williamstown.
As a family we would like to acknowledge the organizations that supported Mark though this
long battle: Pop Cares, Berkshire Visiting Nurses Association, Hospice Care of the Berkshires,
Lenco Industries, the students of Charles H. McCann Technical, Lowland Whitetails, and his
doctor and nurses. To all the family and friends that helped, God bless you all, Mark
appreciated every one of you.
As per Mark's wishes there are no funeral services or calling hours.
A celebration of Mark's life for family and friends will be held at Mark and Jodi's home at 246 Houghton St., North Adams on Sunday, January 14th from 1:00 P.M. to 5:00P.M.
