Marshall Lavias Tichenor was born on March 1, 1950 to Lillian Amanda Tichenor and Marshall Henry Cheaney in Evansville, Indiana.

Marshall's family relocated to Los Angeles, CA when he was twelve years old where he attended John Adams Jr. High and graduated from Manual Arts High in 1968. He also attended UCLA and graduated from The Urban League with a certificate in Computer Science. Marshall worked as a programmer at USC, Toyota Motors and Great Western Bank prior to joining Computer Science Corporation as an Independent Contractor working on banking and insurance systems in various states and overseas prior to becoming disabled.

Marshall and Sharon started dating in 1976 and married in 1991. Marshall enjoyed singing from deep within his heart, dancing until the sun set and the stars faded, driving fast cars, traveling, cooking (eating!), baking, telling funny jokes, spending time with family and friends. He was very fond of his great niece Laseandra Rollins who he treated as his daughter. She provided love, emotional support, and assistance to him and Sharon during his illness. Laseandra is the mother of his great-great niece, Genesis, who he called, "Sweetie". Sweetie was the light of his life and the twinkle in his eye.

Marshall was a very personable individual with a contagious smile that could light up a room and an infectious laugh that could make any bad day good, he was truly loved by many.

Although Marshall fought a courageous fight for years, he recently became tired, found peace and succumbed to his illness in the early evening of September 2, 2017.

Marshall is survived by his wife, Sharon Allen; daughter Aisha Allen (granddog "Scratchhhhh"); son Christian Johnson (wife Alicia, granddaughter Jada, grandson's Joseph James and Christian (CJ); two sisters, Laverne Alvarez (husband Edgar) and Ellen Cheaney; brother, Jeffrey Cheaney (wife Joan); two sister-in-laws, Barbara Potts and Sandra Adams, along with a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
