Marvin P. "Marty" Wilcox 71, of Warwick Road, Winchester, NH, and formerly of Swanzey, NH, passed away peacefully at his home in Winchester on Sunday, June 11, 2017.

He was born in Vergennes, Vermont on July 19, 1945, the son of Seeley Elmer and Dorothy Lena (Cyr) Wilcox. He grew up in Vergennes, and then moved to this area at the age of 21.

Marty was a very hard worker, working within several different fields. He was a wholesale distributer with Indian Head News Agency, now Country News, for fourteen years. He then worked as assistant manager with Yankee Lanes in Keene; in construction with Ted Gnade; and for four years, Marty worked with Timken Corporation of Keene.

He was a foster care provider to teenagers for many years. He was also a member of the Keene Senior Swingers for many years.

An accomplished musician, Marty played the drums starting at the age of 20. He was part of several bands including the "Tom Reb and the Reb Tones" playing with the band for over ten years and traveling all over New England, performing in many venues. He was also part of the "Black Rose Band"; the "Empty Pockets Band" with David Aho; and for fourteen years, he had his own 7-piece band, "Forever Country" based out of Worcester, MA.

He will be greatly missed by his longtime companion, Joy K. Mitchell of Winchester, his many friends in the area; his brother, Rev. Gary Wilcox, of Liberty, NY; three nephews; two nieces; and three great-nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Mary Ellen Wilcox.

At Marty's request, there will be no formal services planned.

For those who wish, donations may be made in his memory to the Keene High School Band Department, c/o Keene High School, 43 Arch Street, Keene, NH 03431, to help students in advancing their knowledge and enjoyment in playing of musical instruments.
