Mary Louis Alexander Puffenbarger, 90, a resident of Mt. Crawford, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday evening, February 18, 2011.

She was born on September 8, 1920 in Augusta County and was the oldest daughter of the late Luther David and Grace Pearl Cook Alexander.

Mary attended Augusta County schools where she played basketball and excelled in track. She was first employed at DuPont and Wayne Manufacturing, then as a civilian she was a first class electrician with the US Navy and was also founder with her husband of See-Mor Customs in Mt. Crawford. She was also a member of Summit Church of the Brethren.

On December 15, 1947 she married Ralph V. Puffenbarger, who preceded her in death on April 4, 1982.

She is survived by a daughter, Bonnie P. Driver and husband, Phillip of Mt. Sidney, a son David Puffenbarger and wife, Vickie of Mt. Crawford, three grandchildren, W. Jack Lewis, Maude Mary Mae and Grace Molly Jo; one sister, Marie Delano Hottinger of South Carolina, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by siblings, Robert David Alexander, Cleo Catherine Holloway, Marion Harold Alexander, Emmaline Landes, and James Wallace Alexander.

The family will receive friends 7-8:00 PM on Monday, February 21, at Lindsey Funeral Homes in Weyers Cave.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM, Tuesday, February 22, at Summit Church of the Brethren, with Pastors Cole Scrogham and Guy Hudson officiating. Burial will follow at Salem Lutheran Church Cemetery.
