Mary Ann Anderson of Owatonna, 83 died suddenly at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester, MN on Sunday January 21, 2018. Mass of Christian Burial is set for Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 10:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Owatonna, MN. Friends may greet the family on Friday, January 26, 2018 from 5:00 -7:00 pm at the Brick – Meger Funeral Home (1603 – Austin Road, Owatonna, MN) and one hour prior to the funeral liturgy on Saturday. A parish rosary will be at 5:00 pm Friday at the funeral home
Mary Ann was born, the daughter of Frances and Agnes (Mauris) Anderson, in Winnebago, MN. Mary Ann graduated from Good Council Academy in Mankato MN, then went to one year at Commerce College in Mankato before moving to Owatonna to start work at Jostens. Here she met Elmer and the two married on March 27, 1957. She then went to work at OTC for two years. She also held other employment at area businesses like King Tuts Pizza and Perkins restaurant. Mary Ann and Elmer then opened a 6- K Fruit and Vegetable market in Owatonna and Waseca. After the closing of the market, they started up Andy's Maintenance and Supply Company until 1985 at which time they sold the business and semi- retired. They moved down to Sweetwater Texas for four years then moved up to Atlantic, Iowa in 1990.
In Atlantic, Mary Ann was a member of St. Peter and Paul's Church and was very active in the church and other city organizations. Additionally, she was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary 2421 of Vermillion, SD. In her spare time, she enjoyed volunteering and playing cards with her friends. On June 1, 2017 she moved back to Owatonna to be closer to most of her family. She made her home at Park Place on September 1, 2017.
Mary Ann is survived by 6 children: Kenneth and special friend DeAnn Bultje of Vermillion, SD; Kevin and (Mary) of Owatonna; Kathy and (Tom) Sands of Owatonna; Kim of Owatonna; Kristine and (Martin) Moreno of Araphaho, OK; and Kaylene (Johnny) Wood of Owatonna. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, sister-in-law Lois Mauris, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Elmer, brothers Robert and Russell, sister-in-law Pauline and niece Mary.
