Bootsie Smoak Trubiano
COLUMBIA - Funeral service for Mary Neal "Bootsie" Smoak Blume Trubiano, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 19, 2012, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2012, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Trubiano died Monday, April 16, 2012, at Agape Hospice. Born on August 31, 1932 in Orangeburg, she was a daughter of the late John Fletcher and Mary Neal Campbell Smoak. Bootsie attended Draughn Business College and started her work career as a part-time clerk for a solo medical practice. She rose to office manager of the eight-doctor Columbia OB-GYN practice supervising a staff of 59. In 1998, she earned the honor of "Office Manager of the Year" from the South Carolina Medical Manager's Association. Known for her warm smile and perky personality, Bootsie enjoyed gardening, bridge, reading, needle-point and antiques. She reigned as the 1949 Dreher High School Homecoming Queen.
Surviving are her husband of 30 years, Ernie Trubiano; daughters, Cathy Blume (Ken Brockington), Judy Livingston (Tim), Leslie Weaver (Mike); grandchildren, Whitney Livingston, Sarah Livingston, Megan Manter, Matthew Manter; brother, Fletcher Smoak; nephews, John Smoak, Ashley Smoak and brothers-in-law, Joe Zaccardo and Rick Zaccardo.
