Mary Elizabeth Fitzpatrick McCormick Age: 95, wife of the late Thomas Dwyer McCormick passed away on August 7, in her home with family by her side.
Mary was born on May 31, 1921 in Newton, MA to the late Elizabeth Whalen and Joseph Albert Fitzpatrick. She lived in Newton and spent summers in Scituate until she married her husband in1956 and moved to Darien, CT. They raised their family in Fairfield County.

Mary received her RN degree from Boston City Hospital and a degree in Public Health Nursing from Simmons College in Boston. She worked in the Boston area for several years and most enjoyed her work in the communities and neighborhoods surrounding Boston.

A devout Catholic, Mary's unshakable faith was an inspiration to her family and friends. She was a lifelong volunteer and gave her time to various organizations including the Kennedy Center in Trumbull and High Hopes Therapeutic Riding in Old Lyme. She drove people in need to their doctors' appointments and was involved in soup kitchens in every town she lived in. She continued to volunteer well into her eighties. She loved getting to know people and hearing about their lives. She had an ear and kind words for everyone she interacted with, and remembered everything about them.

An avid sports fan, she loved to follow the Red Sox, Bruins, and Boston College football and could talk sports with the best of them. She knew all about the players and their families. She and her husband loved to play and watch golf, and they enjoyed many golf vacations with dear friends.

Mary saved her greatest love and devotion however for her children and grandchildren. She was their constant support, their biggest fan, always there for all of them. She was blessed in the past few years with great grandchildren and found great joy in them.

She is survived (and will be dearly missed by) her children: Patrick McCormick of Fairfield, Mariellen Shea of Milford and her husband Tom, Thomas Dwyer McCormick, Jr. of Madison and his wife Colleen, Susan Samatoski of East Haddam, Kathleen Bronsdon of West Hartford and her husband James, and Sheila Bowen of Tennessee. Grandchildren: Alyson Zavadoski and her husband John, Caitlin Ward and her husband Chris, Maura Amatrudo and her husband Michael, Keegan Duenges, Bridget Bronsdon, and Jamie Bronsdon. Great grandchildren: Miles Thomas, Jack Dwyer, Makenzie Rose, and Hazel Wren. Sister-in-law Margaret Fitzpatrick and her daughters Mary Carol, Kathleen, Meg, and Brenda.

She is predeceased by her son Michael, sister Sr. Dorothy Fitzpatrick, and her brother Joseph Albert Fitzpatrick.

There will be a funeral mass at Our Lady Help of Christians Church in Newton, MA on Friday, August 12th at 10:30 followed by burial at Calvary Cemetery in Waltham.
