Mary Idis Armand Williams passed away on July 14,2017 at the age of 92. She was born on December 9,1924 in Atlanta, Louisiana. Mary Idis grew up in Bunkie, Louisiana and graduated from Bunkie High School before moving to New Orleans at the age of 15. She attended Spencer Business College prior to working many years as a legal secretary and bookkeeper. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 48 years, Joseph Edward Williams. They were married in 1945 and raised two daughters, Geneva Williams Forstall (Terry) and Elizabeth Williams Averill (Gregory).

Mary Idis was affectionately known by many who loved her as "Sugar". The things she valued above all were loving family, education and her Catholic faith in God. She was active in many organizations including Lakeview Botany Guild (past president and Woman of the Year), Saint Dominic Rosary Altar Society, Knights of Columbus Auxiliary, Police Affiliated Ladies(PALS), Saint Dominic Eucharist Minister Association, Lakeview Shepherd Center, NAIM, Lakeview Civic Improvement Association, Orleans Lakeside Homemakers Club, Marians of New Orleans, Country Club Home Gardens (Woman of the Year), AARP and Sultans of Alhambra.

Mary was a dedicated grandmother who is survived by her five grandchildren: Lauren Elizabeth Averill, Dr. Christopher Forstall (Rachel), Colleen Averill Reggio (Paul), Erin Catherine Forstall and Philip Gregory Averill (Natalie).

She is also survived by eight great grandchildren: Luke, Patrick and Christian Reggio, Reese, Emery and Brooke Forstall and Ellis and Virginia Averill. She was preceded in death by her parents, Snelling Joseph Armand and Geneva Churchwell Armand, and her brother Snelling Joseph Armand,Jr.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at ST. DOMINIC CATHOLIC CHURCH, 775 Harrison Avenue, New Orleans, LA on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at 12:00 Noon. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in All Saints Mausoleum.
