Mrs. Mary Magdalene Hyatt, 96, of Greensboro, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at Moses Cone Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Hanes-Lineberry Vanstory Chapel, with Rev. Robert Armstrong officiating. Burial will follow at Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the funeral from 12:00 until 2:00 pm on Saturday at the funeral home.
Born in Virginia on October 14, 1919 to Thomas and Martha Crouch, she was a member of Community Fellowship Church. Mary was an L.P.N. and retired from Moses Cone Hospital after over 40 years of nursing. She was an avid reader and most enjoyed reading her Bible. When her eyesight began to diminish she started watching gospel programs and learned her favorite jokes from television evangelists. Mary was very much a people person and if there was any type of social gathering, Mary was there. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who was loved by many and will be dearly missed by all who knew her. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by all six of her sisters and both of her brothers.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Robert Odell Hyatt of the home; daughter, Cindy Hyatt of Greensboro; son, Bobby Madison and his wife Jo Ann of Georgia; 5 grandchildren, Anita J. Madison, Marty R. Madison, Barry T. Madison, R. Chris Hyatt, and Miranda C. Hyatt; 5 great-grandchildren, Barry T. Madison, II, Amanda P. Madison, Elliott R. Madison, Abigail C. Hyatt, and Andrew R. Hyatt; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Memorial contributions may be made to Community Fellowship Church, 5204 Hilltop Rd., Greensboro, NC 27407.
