Mary Rose LoTruglio, known lovingly as "Aunt Mary" by many, died peacefully on March 26, 2017 in Melbourne, FL, holding the hand of one of her loved ones, at the age of 98.

Mary is survived by her family Ron and Nancy Guido of Melbourne, FL, and their children, Lori, Steven, Mark and Robert, to whom Aunt Mary acted as a grandmother for over 40 years. She is also survived by her nephew Joseph LoTruglio and his wife Helen and their children, her niece Claudette Spelman and her children, and Mark Guido's daughter Olivia. She was preceded in death by her siblings Vincent, Diego, Joseph and Beatrice.

She was born on October 15, 1918 in Brooklyn, NY to Crucifixia and Ignacio LoTruglio. She was a Catholic sister for 30 years, during which time she became a school teacher. She earned an undergraduate degree in teaching from St. John's University in 1971, and later earned two masters degrees - one in education and one in reading and literacy. She taught for over 60 years until the age of 89, touching the lives of thousands of students from Sts. Phillips and James school in Smithtown, NY, Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School and Dunedin Academy in Dunedin, FL and Highland Christian Academy in Clearwater, FL as well as numerous other students whom she tutored privately.

A viewing is scheduled for Wednesday, March 29, 2017 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Life Event Center at Florida Memorial, 5950 South US Highway 1, Rockledge, FL and a funeral mass is scheduled Thursday, March 30, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Ascension Catholic Church, Melbourne, FL with reception to follow at Florida Memorial Gardens. Fathers Vincent Clemente and BK Tran will concelebrate the mass. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Mary's life.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the St. Jude Hospital, her favorite and beloved charity ( or VITAS hospice services of Brevard County, FL (, which provided extraordinary care in Mary's final few days.
