Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me." -2 Corinthians 12:9 (KJV) Mrs. Mary Plowden Smith was born on October 16, 1927 in Florence, South Carolina. She was the daughter of Mr. Willie Plowden and Mrs. Fannie Williams Plowden. She entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at McLeod Regional Medical Center. "Flaggy," as she was lovingly called by family and friends, attended the public schools of Florence County. She was self-employed as a Homemaker. Mary was a member of Solid Rock Baptist Church, Florence, SC. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Bernard Smith. Left to cherish her love and memories are: three daughters, Barbara White, Dorothy Erven, and Mirim (William) Moses; five grandchildren, Nicole (Darren) McDaniel-Lewis, Laksha Barley, Michell Glover, and Fernanes Redding; two great granddaughters, Nikiyah McDaniel-Lewis and Darian McDaniel Lewis; one brother, Claude Plowden of the home; one sister, Eartha Lee Ray; and a host of other relatives and friends.
