MaryAnn Carlton Shockley, born March 19, 1947 in Dallas, Texas to Dale and Ester Carlton, passed away December 26, 2017 in Phoenix, Arizona at the age of 70.

She graduated High School from Arlington High in Arlington, Texas and went on to receive her Bachelor of Science in Education from Abilene Christian University in Abilene and a Masters in Management and Administrative Sciences from University of Texas in Dallas and a second Masters in Gestion de Recursos Comunitarios y Relaciones Internacionales from Amber University in Dallas.

After college MaryAnn taught Junior High School English in Corpus Christi, Texas and prior to moving to Arizona she was the Project Director for the Malcolm Baldrige Award Submission at Richland College, Dallas, Texas. Subsequently the school received the award. She retired in 2012 from Maricopa County Community College in Tempe as an Administrative Assistant.
MaryAnn enjoyed reading, singing (especially hymns) crocheting, spoiling her grandkids and traveling, especially to England where she visited three times.

MaryAnn is survived by her husband Marc Shockley; step sons David Shockley and
Thomas Shockley; step daughter Elizabeth (Justin) Frear; grandchildren Tiffany Shockley, Jessica Shockley, Megan Shockley, Aubrey Frear, Carson Frear, Tyler Davis and Britany Davis; great-grandchildren Drake Sams, Scarlet Sams, Emma Cabral, Aurelia Davis, Charlie Davis and Orion Davis; brother Laurin {Larry(Paula)} Carlton; nephews Jacob (Deidra) Carlton and Cody (Jasmine) Carlton along with three great nephews. She is preceded in death by her former husband Richard Parker.

A visitation will take place at Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary 7924 N. 59th Ave in Glendale beginning at 9:00 am on Saturday, January 6, 2018 with a memorial service following at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of the Valley.
