Mrs. Miriam Maryette "Mimi" (Parker) Green, 99, of Fremont, passed away Thursday, August 3, 2017 at her home. She was born the daughter of Blaine and Francis (Ewing) Parker on January 31, 1918 in Biglick Township of Rural Hancock County, Ohio. Maryette attended school in Vanlue and Toledo, and graduated from Arcadia High School, class of 1936. On May 15, 1943, she married Darrell Green, of Findlay, and they had three sons; Patrick, Michael, and William.
Maryette proudly served in WAVES in the Navy during WWII, and became employed in business after her discharge from the military. She was a strong woman, and at the age of 62, she learned to swim competitively. With the help of her coach Clarence O. Murray, she competed in the International Master Swim Competition in Australia in 1988, and received many awards from her athletic pursuits. Using her discipline and lifesaving knowledge, Maryette later became a water safety instructor, and taught many students how to swim and what to do in an emergency situation.
Surviving are her sons; Patrick Green, of Toledo, OH, Michael Green, of Fremont, OH, and sister, Emogene Davis. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Darrell Green, infant son, William Joseph Green, brothers; Albert Folk, Ray, Jay, Mack, Ried, and sister, Florinne Huntley.

Visitation will be Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 10:00am with a memorial service following at 11:00am at Keller-Koch-Chudzinski Funeral Home, 416 S. Arch Street, Fremont, Ohio, 43420. Certified Celebrant Maureen Pump will be officiating. Military Honors provided by the American Legion and VFW will follow at the funeral home. Family and friends are invited to a meal and time of fellowship at the VFW Post 2947, 204 Birchard Avenue, Fremont, Ohio, 43420, which will be held from 12pm to 3pm following services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the YMCA, 100 North Street, Fremont, Ohio, 43420.
