Mrs. Maverine Camp, age 84, of Collinsville, AL., formally of Kennesaw, GA., passed away Wednesday, February 08, 2017 surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Camp was born on March 26, 1932 in Boaz, AL., a daughter to the late Bluferd Watkins and Clyde Grace Watkins.
Mrs. Camp married the love of her life, Mr. Ernest Norman Camp almost 66 years ago in Alabama. The young couple eventually made their way to Kennesaw, GA., where they raised their two children and spent over fifty years. While living in Kennesaw, the two were very devoted members of Kennesaw First Baptist Church. Maverine worked in every aspect of the church from keeping the nursery for forty years to visiting the shut-ins. In her spare time she enjoyed working in her gardens, especially her vegetable garden. She was a wonderful cook and her specialty was fried chicken, which was Norman's favorite. Maverine never met a stranger and loved being around people. Her faith if Christ and love for her family was evident in everything she did. Maverine was a wonderful and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend; she will certainly be missed by all who knew loved her.
Along with her husband, Ernest Norman Camp, Maverine is survived by her two children, Joel Camp and Cathy Smith, husband Johnny, all of Collinsville, AL.; one brother, Roger Watkins of Geraldine, AL.; five grandchildren, Travis Jordan, Beth Reeves, Chase Camp, Jessica Camp, Josie Smith; seven great-grandchildren, Cody, Casey, Summer, T.J., Morgan, Hunter, and Savannah; and several extended family members and friends also survive.
A funeral service to honor the life of Maverine Camp will be held at six-thirty in the evening on Thursday, February 9, 2017 in the Chapel of Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home with Rev. David Huggins officiating. A graveside service for Mrs. Camp will take place at ten o'clock in the morning on Friday, February 10,2017 in the Pine Ridge Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from four o'clock in the afternoon until the time of service on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at the funeral home.
