MAVIS HUMPHREYS COX FUNERAL HOME BASTROP, LOUISIANA Funeral services for Mrs. Mavis Humphreys of Bonita, Louisiana will be held 2:00 p.m. Thusday, May 10, 2018, at the Chapel of Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop. Bro. Dalyn Helbling will officiate the services with special remembrances offered by Bro. Doug Edwards and Bro. Ron Elkins. Committal services and interment will follow at the Bonita Cemetey, Bonita, Louisiana under the direction of Cox Funeral Homes. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. until time for services on Thursday, May 10th, at Cox Funeral Home of Bastrop. Mavis Humphreys was born May 30, 1929 at Forest, Louisiana to the late Ollie Robinson and Bulah Williams Robinson. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on May 8, 2018 at the Oak Woods Home for the Elderly in Mer Rouge, Louisiana. Mrs. Humphreys was a lifelong member of the Church of God and a beloved and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a lady of strong faith, noble character, and a blessing to many. Along with her parents, Mrs. Humphreys is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Billy Humphreys; three brothers, Robert Lewis Robinson, Buford Robinson, and Oliver Leon Robinson; and a sister, Melba Danley. She is survived by her children, Jocelyn Hopkins and her husband, Ronald of Bonita, Louisiana and Billy Dwain Humphreys and his wife, Elizabeth of Thayer, Missouri; five grandchildren, Fran Winningham and her husband, Barron of Bossier City, Louisiana, Holly Farrar and her husband, Gerald of Collinston, Louisiana, Brian Hopkins and his wife, Molly of Monroe, Louisiana, Mike Humphreys and his wife, Julie of Hernando, Mississippi, and Jan Rubado and her husband, Steve of Rome, Georgia; fourteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers will be Brian Hopkins, Mike Humphreys, Barron Winningham, Brandon Winningham, Brady Winningham, Steve Rubado, Ron Elkins, and Don McIntyre. Honorary pallbearers are Caleb Hopkins and Cole Hopkins. For those who wish, the family suggest planned memorials be made to First Church of God of Bastrop, 525 West Madison, Bastrop, Louisiana 71220 or to Oak Woods Home for the Elderly, 1400 Davenport Ave., Mer Rouge, Louisiana 71261.
