Max Rutledge Ellis, 88, of 1968 Line Road, died Friday, August 3, 2012, at Lancaster Convalescent Center.A Service is scheduled for 4:00 pm Sunday, August 5, 2012, at Fork Hill Baptist Church. Rev. Tim Abernathy and Dr. Bill Mackey will officiate. Interment will follow at Fork Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Heath Springs. The family will receive friends from 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm Sunday at Fork HillBaptist Church. Mr. Ellis was born May 26, 1924 in Lancaster, SC. He was a son of the late Fred Ellis and Cora Hinson Ellis. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in World War II. He was a member of Fork Hill Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School and was a Deacon. Max was a member of Masonic Lodge #316 in Fork Hill. He was an avid hunter, enjoyed gardening and volunteered with the Good Samaritan Colony. He was also chairman of Moriah Association Camp Clyburn Committee. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Bob Ellis, Fred Ellis, Ray Ellis, sisters, Georgia Adams and Evelyn Mackey. Mr. Ellis is survived by his wife of 64 years Rudell Adams Ellis, daughter, Maxine Catoe and husband Carl of Fort Mill, sons, Myron Ellis and wife Pamela of Heath Springs, son, Roger Ellis and wife Janice of Heath Springs, brother, Norman Ellis of Kershaw, SC, 7 Grandchildren, 10 Great Grandchildren.
