SOUTH PARIS: Maynard E. Brown, 85, of Minot passed away peacefully on Wednesday September 13, 2017 at the Maine Veterans Nursing Home in South Paris. He was born in Avon, ME on June 5, 1932 a son of the late Clayton and Evelyn (Hewey) Brown. At a young age, he moved to Gorham and attended local schools there. In 1949, Maynard enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict. After being discharged from the Army, Maynard married Marie Levesque and they started a family together. They were married for 32 years until her passing in 1986. In 1989, he married Lorraine Dumont and the two of them enjoyed 28 wonderful years together. During that time Maynard worked for Southworth for over 30 years until the closing of his division. At that time he became co-owner of Engineering Design of Maine and worked there until his retirement in 1998 at which time he built his third house. Amidst keeping very busy with his normal occupations, Maynard also found time to become a licensed Real Estate agent, co-owner of the Oquossoc Hotel and a chicken farm owner. He was a hard working man with a phenomenal work ethic. He was a member of the Kora Shrine, American Legion, a Mason of the Cornerstone Lodge in Portland and a Registered Maine Guide. He will always be remembered for his love of hunting, fishing and spending quality time at the camp. He also was passionate about building. He built six houses in his lifetime. Beekeeping and raising cattle were also among his ventured interests. He will be greatly missed by many. He is survived by his wife, Lorraine Brown of Minot, his children; Leanne Binette of Lewiston, David Brown and his wife Lisa of Durham and Michael Brown and his wife Sandy of Auburn, his step-children; Denise Boutin and her husband Michael of Hartford, Richard Lacombe and his wife Tami of Sabattus and Dennis Lacombe and his wife Jennifer of Mechanic Falls. He also leaves behind his two siblings; Hartson Brown and his wife Gwen of Standish, Marilyn Mains of Westbrook, nine grandchildren, ten step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one step-great-granddaughter. He was predeceased by his first wife, Marie and his brother, Clayton. Condolences may be shared with Maynard's family at www.thefortingroupauburn.com

A Liturgy of the Word service will be held at Fortin\Auburn on Thursday September 21, 2017 at 4pm followed by family and friends gathering for visitation until 8pm. Interment will take place at Brooklawn Memorial Park in Portland on Friday September 22, 2017 at 11am.
