Melissa “Pickles” McFadden Nunn died peacefully after an extended illness on September 27, 2017 in Crozet, Virginia at the age of 28.



Melissa is survived by her parents, Kathleen J. McFadden of Crozet, VA and Robert G. Nunn III of Berryville, VA, her brother, Robert G. Nunn IV of Baltimore, MD, her uncle, aunt, and cousins Jeffrey and Christine McFadden, Andrew McFadden and Allison McFadden of Winston-Salem, NC, her aunt, uncle, and cousin, Melissa and Bruce Dell and Bruce Dell of Port Republic, MD, her aunt and cousins, Donna Nunn of Guilford, CT, Harvey Guion, Jr , David Guion, and Danielle Ellesio, and her uncle and cousins, Thomas Nunn of Blodgett, OR. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Robert and Marlys McFadden of Winston Salem, NC and Robert and Holly Nunn of Arlington, VA.



Melissa was born on July 21, 1989 in Vienna, VA to Kathleen McFadden and Robert G. Nunn III. She graduated from the College of Charleston in 2011 with a baccalaureate degree in Art History and Studio Art. After college, Melissa moved to New York, NY, and pursued her Master’s degree in Contemporary Art at Sotheby’s Institute of Art.



Melissa was an accomplished artist who enjoyed painting, creating sculptures, and travelling. She was a tender hearted, loving, kind young woman with an infectious laugh and joy for all to be around. She was a devoted daughter, niece, cousin, and friend whose story telling and sense of humor will be joyously remembered. Caring, compassionate, and always encouraging, she loved her family, friends, and pets with all her heart. We will miss Melissa, but take comfort in knowing we will see her again in company of angels and loved ones.



A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 11:00 am at Christ Episcopal Church 120 W. High Street Charlottesville, VA 22902 with a reception to follow. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Melissa’s life. Donations in lieu of flowers can be sent to the College of Charleston in memoriam of Melissa M. Nunn.
