Melvin was born on August 22, 1924 and passed away on Friday, May 10, 2019.

Melvin was a resident of Belle Fourche, South Dakota at the time of passing.

He went to grade school at the Strong one-room schoolhouse, a walk across the prairie from the homestead and to high school in Bonesteel, where his nickname was "Doc", predicting his future.

He attended the School of Mines briefly and then enlisted in the Army where he served in the infantry in France and Germany in World War II.

A gathering of family and friends and sharing of memories will be held Wednesday, May 15 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Kline Funeral Chapel in Belle Fourche.

The family suggests memorials to the Ft. Robinson Spiritual Run, 1119 Elkhorn Street Belle Fourche, SD 57717.
