MUSIC FUNERAL HOME
Mrs. Mercer Lois "Mert" Jeffords, 72, died early Tuesday morning (March 31, 2015) at Cook Medical Center in Adel after an extended illness. She was a native and lifelong resident of Waycross where she worked in the banking industry for several years at First National Bank. She was affiliated with the Baptist faith. Mert is the daughter of the late Foden Jeffords and Rowena Mercer Spikes Jeter. She is preceded in death by one sister, Judith Tyre. Survivors include four children, Charles F. "Chuck" Devane, Jr. (Andrea) of Hot Springs, AR, Melissa "Sissy" Burgess (Jeff) of Fitzgerald, Pamela L. Dillard (Scott) of Adel, and Gregory "Greg" Tyre (Brittany) of Waycross; 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; one sister, Pat Garrard (Marvin) of Watkinsville; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Friday (April 3, 2015) at the Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Kettle Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Sympathy may be expressed by signing the online registry at www.musicfuneralhome.com.
