Michael Casagrande, beloved husband, father, and brother, passed away at home on April 27 at the age of 62. Michael came to Tampa from Oran, Algeria with his parents, Josette and Pierre, in 1955 when he was six months old. He went to Jesuit High School, then USF, and then to the University of Chicago for his MBA. He married Virginia Sanders and they had two children, Christopher and Lisa, who were the light of his life. In 1988, after working as a CPA, he went into business with his father. They started a Financial Service Center in Plant City called Mr. Check Casher, subsequently renamed Mr. Quick Loan, which is still in business today. He was very proud of his family, children, and growing business. In 1998 he suffered a stroke, but with determination and perseverance he recovered. He had a positive attitude toward life and inspired everyone he met along the way. Since he started attending St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in 1999 he made many friends at the weekly Saturday Mass. Michael is survived by his wife Virginia Casagrande, his sister Anne Delafuente (José), his brother Mark Casagrande (Melanie), his son Chris Casagrande (Heather), and his daughter Lisa Vining (Trip). He will be greatly missed.
A Funeral Mass was held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Seffner on Saturday, May 6, at 11am. Reception to follow.
