CHAPIN - A funeral service for Michael Floyd Derrick, 40, will be held at 4:00 p.m. Friday, June 9, 2017 at Eastlake Community Church, with private burial in Bethel Lutheran Church Cemetery. Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, is assisting the family.



Mike passed away on Tuesday, June 6, 2017. Born on November 30, 1976 in Columbia, he was a son of Floyd Derrick and Linda Catoe Derrick.



He graduated from Irmo High School and served in the United States Marine Corps. Mike and his wife Joanna owned and operated Derrick Homes, LLC and ran a metal fabrication and plasma cutting business called Monkey Dog Metalworks. He was a member of Eastlake Community Church.



Mike was truly a loving, giving man and positively impacted the lives of so many people. He had a passion for working on and restoring old Chevy trucks. Mike also competed in the Scottish Highland Games.



In addition to his parents, surviving are his wife, Joanna Lewis Derrick; sons, Cash and Colton Derrick; step children, Mary-Jordan, Eliza, and West Hiller; brother, Bryan Derrick (Chelsea); sister, Shelby Derrick; and niece and nephew, Eden and Max Derrick.
