Michael G. Rose passed away peacefully on November 25, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. He was 80 years old.

Michael was born in Newark, NJ and the son of the late Michael Rose and Rose Marie Rose.

He was a devoted art teacher for over 30 years, teaching first at Kawahmee Junior High School in Union, NJ and later at High School South and High School East in Toms River, NJ.

He thoroughly enjoyed teaching and creating art displays at Christmas and throughout the year. He also was instrumental in stage scenery design for student theatrical plays.

Michael was a graduate of Edinboro Teachers College (now Edinboro University) in PA. He was multi-talented with special interest in working with terra cotta clay. His sculptures are outstanding and are admired by many. Michael had also served in the Army from 1960 – 1962 in Germany. He grew beautiful chrysanthemums and organic vegetables. He was also active in the Political Action Committee of the Toms River school system.

He was a family man. He loved his wife Gertrud and his two sons Michael and Alexander. They traveled to Europe and later enjoyed some cruises during their retirement. His son Michael, daughter-in-law Linda, and their seven children were a blessing to him in life.

In addition to his wife Gertrud, Michael is survived by his son Michael and his wife Linda; his sister, Meta Pace of Raleigh, NC; Maria Rose: the wife of his late brother Russell Rose of PA; many nephews and nieces; his beloved grandchildren: Michael, Kyle, Jenna, Lucas, Sophia, Ethan, and Olivia Rose.

A memorial service will be conducted at Teague Funeral Home in Charlottesville, on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 11:00 AM.
