Michael Kent Henderson, age 56, of Atlanta, IN died February 2, 2017 at his home after a long fought battle with cancer.

He was born May 27, 1960 at Elwood, IN to Philip Francis and Mary Alice (Leathers) Henderson. They survive him.

He was a graduate of Hamilton Heights High School with the Class of 1978 and of the Purdue University Short Course. He was an active member of Future Farmers of America and 4-H. He was a life-long farmer and from an early age farming was all he wanted to do as his life's work. He has left a legacy to his family to keep farming, the life he loved.

Mike, as he was fondly known, was an avid toy tractor collector and a full size Moline Tractor collector. A favorite enjoyment was attending tractor pulling contests.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his three children: Jacob (Lindsey) Henderson, Colton Henderson, and Lauren (Justin) Henderson, grandchildren: Lilly and Wade Henderson, siblings: Kathy Henderson and John Henderson, all of Atlanta, IN.

He was preceded in death by grandparents: Ray and Mary Henderson and Orville and Garnet Leathers.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at 10:30 A.M. at Arcadia Christian Church with pastor Neal Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Arcadia Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Monday also at the Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sarcoma Foundation of America, 9899 Main Street, Suite 204, Damascus, MD, 20872.
