Michael R. Sexton, 57, born in Bloomington, Indiana, December 4, 1958, departed this earthly life on May 9, 2016, following a brief illness. He was a lifetime resident of Bloomington, Indiana, and the eldest son of the late Robert R. Sexton and surviving mother, Phylllis J. Martindale of Bloomington, Indiana.
Mike attended Bloomington South High School and was employed in the food service industry in Bloomington for many years. He enjoyed working outdoors and spending time with his family. He was a member of Lifeway Baptist Church in Ellettsville, Indiana.
Survivors include his children, Alex and Robert Sexton both of Bloomington, Indiana; grandson, A.J. Sexton and former partner Julie Sexton. His beloved brothers, Jeff Sexton, Kevin and Shirley Sexton of Bloomington, Indiana, Bradley and Jackie Sexton of Spencer, Indiana, and niece Katlyn.
Additional survivors include uncle and aunts, John A and Carla Timms of Centennial, Colorado, Mary and Joseph Debelak of Macungie, Pennsylvania. Richard Oliver of Columbus, Indiana, and Rita Hendricks of Topeka, Kansas.
Cousins, Debra Shively and family of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Pam (Jim) Birdwell and family of Windsor, Colorado, Scott (Rose) Oliver and family of Tallahassee, Florida, Vicky (Chris) Henderson and family of Columbus, Indiana, John Timms Jr. of Carollton, Texas, Jason Timms and family of Centennial, Colorado, Jami De Siena and family of East Brunswick, New Jersey, Kathryn (Brian) McAllister and family of Allentown, Pennsylvania, Kimberly (Bill) Walter and family of Fairfax, Virginia, Timothy Debelak and family of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Lisa Debelak of Macungie, Pennyslvania. Life long friend Russell Arthur and nephew, Tony and his wife Lisa.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert R. Sexton, his brother Mark Sexton, grandparents, John F. and Mildred P. Timms, grandparents Herbert and Louise Hendricks, Uncles Eugene and Donald Hendricks, and a Aunt, Patricia S. Smith.
He will be forever missed and loved by his family and friends.
Memorial services to celebrate his life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Lifeway Baptist Church, 7821 West State Road 46, Ellettsville, Indiana 47429.
